Biomorphic Drawings
Through observation and experience, I’ve come to realize that the curious are generally happy. This has become evident in my participation while creating my art, specifically the recent biomorphic drawings. This curiosity also relates to the reactions the drawings have received from the formally and non-formally educated art viewer. The viewer's perception within the forms starts with familiarity which falls short. As an art object, these seemingly organic works emerge through form and sensitivity to mark-making on translucent vellum. They are the confluence of many interests through observations of place, natural phenomena and organism behavior. These drawings exist in an odd place, between the familiar and the bizarre. As the forms come into being, they become my strange, curious, and engaging beauties.
